Why Now: More than 1.3 million Americans have been shot and over 500,000 Americans have been killed by guns since the Sandy Hook tragedy. Gun violence touches every part of American life—from schools and houses of worship to stores, streets, and homes. This December, we are uniting to demand our #FreedomToLive without the fear of getting shot anywhere and everywhere. Join students, faith leaders, survivors, and allies across the country for local vigils and gun‑violence‑prevention (GVP) actions.
What We’re Asking You To Do: Host a #FreedomToLive vigil or GVP event of any size, any kind, anywhere—from candle lighting indoors or outdoors, remembrances, faith services to teach‑ins, tabling, art builds, community walks, advocacy training, and more — to support survivors, students and others who are impacted by gun violence.
