ARMAS Act Advocacy Days are cosponsored by the General Board of Church and Society and other organizations like the Quixote Center. The Americas Regional Monitoring of Arms Sales (ARMAS) Act is legislation that would mobilize resources across the federal government to disrupt firearms trafficking from the United States to Latin America and the Caribbean and implement stronger transparency, accountability, and oversight for U.S. arms exports. See the form for more info about the bill.

Gun trafficking from the United States is fueling deadly violence across Latin America and the Caribbean, with devastating consequences in countries like Haiti and Mexico. The ARMAS Act of 2025 would restore oversight, strengthen transparency, and hold U.S. arms exporters accountable, helping prevent weapons from falling into the hands of criminal gangs. The calls outlined in this legislation are critical steps toward reducing violence and protecting lives across the region.

With this critical issue facing us, faith and secular organizations focused on gun violence as well as human rights not only here in the U.S. but also in Latin American countries like Haiti, El Salvador, and Mexico decided to come together to advocate for this important legislation.

You are welcome to participate either in person in DC or virtually.

Tuesday, September 29 will be a briefing hosted by Senator Murphy's office at 12pm ET with members of Congress as well as educational meetings to prep for Congressional meetings. Wednesday, September 30 is the day for Congressional meetings. We will provide more details on the schedule as we get closer. The Congressional briefing and other meetings may be featuring international speakers from Haiti and Mexico. Noting for those interested in participating in person in DC, most (if not all) meetings will be in the Capitol Hill area of DC.
