Hindus for Human Rights is holding an event on attacks on electoral integrity in India and the United States on September 9, 2025, at 8:30 pm IST/11:00 am EDT. Over the last few weeks, two parallel fights around elections have unfolded in Texas and the Indian state of Bihar. In Texas, lawmakers left the state to break quorum and prevent the legislature from passing egregiously partisan Congressional maps. In Bihar, the Election Commission of India has deleted and revised voter rolls in a Special Intensive Review, which disproportionately disenfranchises voters from marginalized communities. In this event, we'll explore the similarities and differences in how Texas and Bihar politicians have subverted democratic practices to silence minority voices. We will be hosting this conversation with Rep. Salman Bhojani of Texas and Mr. Pawan Khera of the Indian National Congress. This is an educational event where we do not intend to influence or inform the US-India relationship.
