Catholics Welcome Immigrants, a Long Island grassroots organization, invites you to an August 19th Zoom workshop, 7:00-8:30 PM, on how to use our Catholic faith in your parish to support immigrants.
Each day, the crises facing our undocumented immigrant neighbors grow more menacing. There are 60% more ICE arrests on Long Island than anywhere else in New York State. On Monday, July 27th, 330,000 Haitians in the US were made illegal by the Trump Administration ending Temporary Protective Status with the stroke of a pen. Many live here on Long Island and now face deportation.
Families are being torn apart. Communities are divided. Businesses are losing vital workers.
Popes Francis and Leo have called on American Catholics to speak up. America's bishops have denounced these mass deportations that Pope Francis called "a disgrace."
Now Long Island Catholics can take action. On Wednesday, August 19th, 7:00-8:30PM via Zoom, Catholics Welcome Immigrants will host a workshop on how you can use a Catholic resource in your parish to pray, discern, discuss and act on behalf of our frightened immigrant neighbors.
