NY Faith-Based Affordable Housing Act Virtual Advocacy Night

Tuesday, February 18th from 6:30pm - 7:30pm

New York State is experiencing a dire housing and homelessness crisis, with more than half of New Yorkers facing unaffordable housing expenses each month and over 100,000 people living in shelters every night. Many of our congregations provide a significant part of the local social safety net and want to further serve their communities by creating affordable housing on their land. Unfortunately, municipalities often prevent the development of affordable housing with unduly restrictive zoning and other types of bureaucratic red tape.

The Faith-Based Affordable Housing Act would streamline the process for faith communities to build affordable housing on their land and in turn realize significant funds to reinvest back into their programs. Join Bishop Miller, Rev. Dustin Longmire of Messiah Schenectady and advocates from Open New York to find out how you can get involved in this historic effort to put faith in New York housing!
