Passover Rally For Liberation

Details:

Passover Rally For Liberation

As Jewish people around the world once more prepare our Seder tables, we find ourselves once more in a time of horrific violence and rising authoritarianism. The Passover story teaches us that in every generation there are pharaohs who seek to oppress the people, and, in every generation there are people yearning for freedom. From Palestine to New York our communities are organizing to build that better world.

This year we are reminded yet again that the story of the Exodus from slavery is a migration story-- and we are reminded as diasporic Jews that our safety is inextricably tied with that of the migrants in our own communities. As immigrants in our own communities come under increasing attack, both for speaking in solidarity with the people of Gaza, and for merely existing, we must all step up to defend them. Join us as we raise our voices together to demand an end to deportation at home, and occupation abroad.

What: Jewish Voice for Peace Rally for Liberation. This event will honor the Jewish celebration of Passover, but will not be a traditional Seder, matzoh and grape juice will be provided. People of all faiths or none are welcome.

Where: Townsend Park, Albany at the intersection of Henry Johnson Boulevard and Central Avenue.

When: Thursday, April 17th from 5:30 to 7:00pm

Accessibility Information: To keep our community safe masking is encouraged at this event, and will be provided. Parking is street parking in the surrounding area, and attendees should anticipate several hundred feet of walking. Townsend Park is also serviced by the 10 and 12 bus lines.
