Join us to learn more about the impact of executive orders on our churches.
In January 2025, the Department of Homeland Security rescinded a long-standing policy that prevented immigration enforcement actions from taking place at houses of worship, with limited exceptions. The rescission of the Sensitive Locations Policy leaves many congregations vulnerable to unannounced visits by Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) and raises questions on what to do if that happens. In this timely presentation, John Medeiros will discuss steps congregations can take to prepare for ICE site visits and will provide an overview on the legal risks of offering sanctuary services.
John Medeiros serves as Chair of the Corporate Immigration Practice of the law firm, Nilan Johnson Lewis, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
