Solution Not Suspensions-NY is a statewide coalition of advocates, parents, students, educators, mental health practitioners and attorneys working to reduce the New York school system's over-reliance on suspensions and exclusionary discipline. We are calling on allied organizations to endorse this letter to demonstrate our broad base of support for the Solutions Not Suspensions NY S.134 (Jackson)/A.118 (Solages).
The Solutions Not Suspensions Coalition asking you to sign on to our letter of support for our bill! We are so close to 100 organizational sign ons, please help us get there! We want to show our strong support for keeping kids in schools and reducing New York's overreliance on exclusionary discipline. Please sign on by April 30th!
Suspensions are fuel for the school-to-prison pipeline and disproportionately impact Black and brown students, students with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ students, and students from lower-income backgrounds. This is an equity issue. Please circulate to your networks!
